Grown Ups – Teachers

Mission Nutrition Education Pack

Save the Children, ContinYou and the Federation of City Farms and Community Gardens are joining up with Blue Peter to raise awareness of nutrition, here and abroad. In the UK, the Federation of City Farms and Community Gardens will help children learn how to grow their own food and Continyou will provide free healthy breakfasts to children who would otherwise go to school on an empty stomach. Internationally, Save the Children will send food packages and seeds to the most vulnerable children in Bangladesh, Colombia, and South Africa to get meals on their tables and give them a sustainable way of providing for themselves.

The aim of the appeal is to get two million meals on plates. We’ll be encouraging people across the UK to help us by holding bring-and-buy sales.

Activities

This series of activities will help you explore the reasons behind the Mission Nutrition appeal and get children motivated to want to help. The activities support work in a variety of curriculum areas, including teaching children to grow food, which is now part of the National Curriculum.
